Live Link Protoype Download: Game Concept in PDFThe original concept is to create a seven chapter themed single player narrative experience, where teh player will engaged in exploration of the UI landscape in a linear fashion, where player collects parts, trigger features and dfeat challenges. With player passing each obstacle, they unlock and gain access to the next chapter.
The objective of the first round of user testing was to introduce core concept, testing task flow, and to collect user feedbacks on what they think about the overall concept.
The game concept sounds inspirational but a little abstract. Espcially combining with narration. The users were confused how they can read about the story while going from room to room inside a game.
While the idea is entertaining, but it strays the user from the primary objective of understanding the story, which is to learn about the content of the story and weakness of characters in they story and how they relate to sins.
After conducting the first user testing, I revisited the primary objective of the app, and took out the gaming part so the user can focus on the having a fulfilling experience understanding the story. However, after revisit some priliminary sketches and art work, I feel that the story and visual style is more appropriate for a younger group of audience. After conducting some research, I changed my target audience to 8-10 year old kids without changing my objective.
The new concept focuses on educating new group of target audience on Egyptian Mythology and lead the user through a digital experience where they experience three special interactive features, including manipulating 2.5 dimension interface thru tilting of the device, parallax scrolling and drag & drop. In addition, users can toggle open certain icons to read the contents, learn fun facts about Egyptian Mythology and toggle music on and off.
The primary target audience are children looking for a visually enriching experience to read a graphic novel while learning fun facts about Egyptian culture. They frequently visits the App Store looking for educational game or interactive storybooks.
The second target audience are parents who are interesting in allowing their kids to learn more about Egyptian mythology and fun facts about Egyptian cultures, history and architecture.
